Papajin

Milwaukee/Honore. Dinner: wonton soup (good), shrimp tempura roll (good), namasake (better than expected), sweet and sour chicken (not so good -- crazy bright red sauce and lots of it -- the pineapples were good, but not the tomatoes or the green bell peppers).

Potbelly

Damen/Wabansia. Lunch: turkey and provolone with extra ham (not bad, but the ham wasn't as exciting as I wanted it to be).

Freddy's

Sheffield/North. Dinner: onion blossom (good, but the outer layers of onion are papery), baby back ribs (good, falls off the bone, but not particularly special).

Ann Sather

Milwaukee/Honore. Breakfast: Swedish waffles (not very good, topped with only powdered sugar and syrup, no jam or anything, but cute heart shapes).

Pizza Metro

Division/Paulina. Dinner: pepperoni, onion, and tomato pizza (good).

Penny's

Damen/Pierce. Lunch: Japanese gyoza (good), lad nar with chicken (good).

Papajin

Milwaukee/Honore. Dinner: shrimp tempura roll (delicious!), wonton soup (very good, as usual), spicy special shrimp (not that good), chicken with green beans (good).

Pizza Metro

Division/Paulina. Dinner: pepperoni pizza, Italian sausage pizza. Pepperoni pizza was delicious. Sausage started good, but was not so good by the end. This is probably the best thin-crust pizza I've ever had...?

Penny's

Damen/Pierce. Snack: Japanese gyoza, hit the spot.

Sultan's Market

North/Hoyne. Lunch: chicken shwarma sandwich. Made me queasy.

Half & Half

Damen/Milwaukee. Breakfast: croissant.

Tuesday, May 25, 2004

Penny's

Damen/Pierce.

Milk and Honey

Division/Wolcott. Lunch: BLT (yum!)

Monday, May 24, 2004

Potbelly

Michigan/Wacker pedway. Lunch: turkey provolone, extra turkey, on wheat, with chips. Good.

Coast

Damen/Dickens. Dinner: shrimp tempura (big long and skinny, very good), California roll (good but not usually good), Sunrise (a let-down, not enough mango flavor), namasake (melt-in-your-mouth delicious, wow!), white dragon roll (wow! wow! wow!), asparagus tempura roll (pretty good and filling), fruit and chocolate for dessert (delicious but very expensive for only a few small pieces of fruit). The overall bill was expensive, cuz we were so hungry, but the food was delicious and not outrageously priced ($2 for namasake). And they deliver! :-P

Red Light

Randolph/Green. Dinner: black sesame shrimp (good, delicious sweet fruity sauce, but not worth $2.50/shrimp), pad thai with pork and shrimp, "a little bit spicy" as recommended by the server (ordinary, and way way way too spicy, and not worth almost $20, compared to Penny's or Amarind's). Overall, the food was just OK, the prices were way too high.

Cosi

Michigan/Lake pedway. Lunch: sesame ginger chicken sandwich, extra sauce, with side of baby carrots. Pretty good, some pieces of chicken had gristle though. :-(

Thursday, May 20, 2004

Penny's

Damen/Pierce. Dinner: fried gyoza (really good and crunchy tonight), Vietnamese spring rolls (good, they are growing on me), hot pepper noodle with chicken (very good tonight, not slimy, very spicy, almost too spicy), pad thai with chicken (good as usual).

Oriental Express

Wacker/Columbus pedway. Lunch: chicken fried rice. I was tempted to get the "daily special" (which never, ever changes), but stuck with the vastly more economical standby. Today's had one nibble that was strangely crunchy and spicy... a runaway nugget of the horrid spicy chicken?

McDonald's

Michigan/South Water. Lunch: Ranch salad w/ crispy chicken, bottled water. The salad was better than expected, leafy spinach, cheese, whole tiny tomatoes, and bacon. With the dressing, the meal was very high-calorie and high-fat, but I just wanted to snag a free pedometer (which seems to vastly overcount my steps, so far).

Tuesday, May 18, 2004

Chipotle

Michigan/Lake. Lunch: chicken fajita burrito, good.

Monday, May 17, 2004

Las Palmas

North/Honore. Dinner: pork ribs w/ pineapple sauce (good, but got old toward the end -- was 11 large ribs), with fried plantains (delicious) instead of black beans. Free chips were thick but good, salsa was watery but good.

Cosi

Michigan/South Water. Lunch: sesame ginger chicken sandwich, with extra sauce, and side carrots (good, better with the extra sauce, but messy).

Sunday, May 16, 2004

Sultan's Market

North/Hoyne. Lunch: spicy chicken schwarma sandwich (good as usual ... I wish the chicken were warmer).

Saturday, May 15, 2004

Caffe De Luca

Damen/Wabansia. Brunch: French toast with marscapone and strawberries (very good), mozzerella/tomato/basil omelette with roasted potatoes and fruit bowl (boring and flavorless).

Friday, May 14, 2004

Phil Stefani's 437 Rush

Rush/Hubbard. Dinner: lobster bisque (best part of the meal!), potato gnocchi (boring, not that good after a few bites), mango sorbet (good, but not great).

Oriental Express

Columbus/South Water pedway. Lunch: chicken fried rice.

Wednesday, May 12, 2004

Penny's

Damen/Pierce. Dinner: gyoza (good as usual), lad nar with chicken (good as usual, unusually large quantity of ginger, soggy as usual from carry-out).

Panda Express

Washington/LaSalle. Lunch: chicken with string beans (not as good as I expected), orange chicken (good). This location seems to give more food than the ones at the Thompson Center and on Michigan Ave.

Tuesday, May 11, 2004

My Pie

Damen/Armitage. Dinner: medium deep dish w/ sausage (delicious), onion, green pepper, and fresh tomatoes. Pizza promised in 45 minutes, arrived in 37. Crust was surprisingly crisp, unlike usual.

Twisted Spoke

Ogden/Hubbard. Lunch: "The Boss Hogg" -- pork butt BBQ sandwich and fries. Pretty good. Fries were a bit soggy, made me feel not-so-good. BBQ sauce was pretty good, though.

Monday, May 10, 2004

Chipotle

Michigan/South Water. Lunch: chicken fajita burrito, delicious!
